The title “Christ Is Enough” ought to have no resistance from Christians. This statement may seem like an obvious truth but to some it seems to be controversial. Some say, “Christ is not the only message”, “The full gospel is not just about Christ”, “You have to preach the church too”. To some degree I could understand the thoughts behind these statements but the Bible disagrees with these ideologies so “let God be true but every man a liar”. I implore you, in the spirit of Proverbs 29:11 lay down your stones and read on, at least hear the whole matter before you decide my fate.
There are two main reasons why most people oppose Christ being the only message or oppose similar phrases suggesting this.
1. They associate the message of Christ with the message of salvation only
2. They don’t understand the all inclusiveness of the doctrine of Christ
What Christian would desire to take a doctrine and separate it from Christ? This is absurd. This makes no logical or biblical sense. All things flow from Christ. Every doctrine, every belief, all faith, all hope, all Christian ethics, and all… everything has just got to come from Christ. The bible literally says so. Don’t take my word for it, see for yourself . . .
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
This scripture has always been the basis for the idea that Jesus is the Word. The Greek word Christos (Christ) means anointed. If we put these two thoughts together it is evident that the whole Bible, Word of God, is anointed since Christ is the word. Why then would any doctrine not be about Christ? Why then would any doctrine not come from Christ? If we have a doctrine that can stand on it’s own without Christ then we have a doctrine that is not found in the Bible. This is what is known as damnable heresies, doctrines of devils, seducing spirits, and in plain speech, lies. You simply can not have a doctrine stand on its own two feet separate from Christ. It must come from Christ, must be about Christ, the Word of God, or else I prefer to give it no place in my conscience lest my conscience be seared. Let God be true but every man a liar. Christ Is Enough.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
This section could be lengthy because this subject is plenteous in obtainable knowledge. The merciful shall obtain mercy, so in that spirit I will try to summarize the main points instead of delving into a lengthy discourse on the subject.
I will not get into the science of creationism nor delve into the specifics of the creation event. I will speak directly to those who believe because there is no burden of proof required for us. We know that God created all things. This account can be found in the beginning of the book of Genesis. How did He do this? We of the faith know that He spoke things into existence. Only God can do this, obviously no man can speak or declare something into existence and it actually happen. Sovereign almighty creator God can. Anyway, that is a topic for another day. Back to the answer to the question, How did God create things? He spoke. What did he speak? The most obvious answer even logically is, words. We saw the earlier verses (John 1:3,14) confirm this hypothesis. This may have seemed off topic but I have wrote all this to say this, Jesus was in the beginning because he is the literal Word of God. God used the Word to create all things.
There are many ways that Christ is the end. Christ is He by which eternal life is obtained. How further of an end can you get than…. Forever, eternal, never ending? Maybe an idea that is not often thought of is that Jesus is “the Amen” (Revelations 3:14). Turn in your Bibles to Revelations 22:21; the very last book in the Bible, the very last chapter, the very last verse, and even the very last word. What is this word? It is “Amen”. Even simply in pure linguistics or semantics Jesus is the end because he is “The Amen”. Could not a whole book, even volumes be written on just the word Amen? It would take more space than available and stray from the topic thus I spare you. There’s too many examples of Christ being the end to cover here but I thought it beneficial to find even the most simplistic idea and convey it.
Is Christ enough?
It pleased the Father that in Christ the fullness dwell. Does it please us as well? Are we content with what God is content with? Do we strive to find the fullness in something outside of Christ? God said once of Jesus “…This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Do we say “This is my beloved Saviour in whom I am well pleased”? Or to the contrary do we say “Christ is the beginning but I must find more”? Christ is the beginning and the end. To this thought I must need inject that He is all in the middle as well.
The church is not the fullness of God. I stand a liar before you, as the Bible says “Let God be true but every man a liar”. Don’t take my word for it, believe the Bible. It is truth, it is life, it the beginning, it is the end, it is all in all. (Ephesians 4) Even the church’s end goal is to come into the stature of the fullness of Christ. It is not there yet so how can it be fuller than Christ who it must needs come in to. Do not be carried about with doctrines of devils that state that Christ is only the beginning. Christ is not only salvation, He is the summation of all things.
There are those who say there is a doctrine of this, there is a doctrine of that, I say in response, There is one doctrine, Christ is the only doctrine. The Word of God is the only doctrine. There is no other. Jesus Christ of Nazareth the son of the Almighty living God is the consummation of all things. He is the fullness and Him alone. There is no other. Christ Is Enough!
Let me give to you this example. A cup is not much use to quench thirst without water in it. Jesus being the fullness we must strive to reach the full mark, anything besides being full is well…. not full. One drop less than full and the cup is not full. If we exclude any part of Christ, we are not full. If we make one part of Christ less important than another, we are not full. When you start with an empty cup and start pouring water in it takes a few moments to get the cup full. I wonder if the water which went in first remained at the bottom of the cup or if when more water was continually added that it all mixed together? A person that minimizes Christ as only the message of salvation is in essence saying that the water which went in first stays at the bottom of the cup and you add more on top. That makes no sense, does it? Water on top of water would mix all up into one nice cup of water, no drop of water being more or less important than the other. If we confuse Christ as only being the message of salvation that is like saying Christ is the water in the bottom of the cup, other doctrines are at the top, and they do not mix. This is foolish and makes no Biblical sense. Without any individual part, if we do not take the whole Bible as equally valid and important (Shhhhh YES, even the Old Testament) the cup is not full. Christ is the fullness. Christ Is Enough.
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
The highminded people of today may feel this scripture reflects to certain groups or peoples. If the KJV translators has any merit, if they be of God, if God ordained this translation then we must bow to the words of God. It says “gather together in one all things in Christ”. “IN CHRIST” is the terminology used not one in a church, not one in a certain creed, not one in certain systematic mannerisms, but one in Christ. I can imagine with some of the statements in that last sentence there are some who may want to find me and stone me to death. I pray you, let me be a liar if need be, but you must believe God. Saying “Christ Is Enough” does not downgrade or diminish the importance of any other part of Christ.
The “church message” is important but it is not rightly so called. This message that folks seem to want to label this way is not the church’s message, it is of Christ. Christ is the word of God, is He not? Can you find the section of the doctrine prescribed to the church in the Bible? If the answer is yes, which it is, then you have found it, in Christ. People of God will most definitely be in one place by the end of the age. They will be in Christ. The importance is not that they are in one place and one mind, the tower of Babel had that so many years ago, cults have that now in days, other false teachers can have a set mind on one matter or another. The important thing is to be in one place and one mind in Christ. Christ is what makes the difference. Well, everyone that says they have Christ does not do this or does not do that….you must read that again. Those who “SAY” they have Christ… This is correct, If one ounce of Christ is left out, then they have not the true Christ but a fake, an impostor. God forbid if this ever be so in the church of God.
I will try to briefly conclude as I know a while back in this text I said I would show mercy. If anything is taken away from this text, let it be that everything we do is for Christ and Christ alone. Every doctrine comes from Christ, there is no doctrine which can stand on it’s own outside of Jesus Christ. If a doctrine can stand alone without Christ then it does not come from the Lord. It is a doctrine of devils and a heresy which will damn any soul that lets it. Let us conclude that we need nothing else besides Christ. Let us be pleased in Christ just as God the father was when the dove descended. It is most definitely enough to preach only Christ, you do not need another. Some may dismiss this writing as nonsensical, some may oppose it, some may even call it heretical but from now till Kingdom come I will write and I will believe that….
“CHRIST is enough“ “Christ IS enough” “Christ is ENOUGH”
“CHRIST IS ENOUGH”
The most important thing:
If you don’t know Jesus and want to here’s what to do…
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
And you know it works because…
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
